Ellen Dumesnil is the Executive Director of the Immigration Institute of the Bay Area (IIBA). She initially became involved with immigrants and refugees while working overseas in Indonesia helping to assist with the rescue and relocation of refugees fleeing war torn Vietnam. That experience in 1977 set the path for her over 30 year history working on behalf of refugees and immigrants locally, nationally and internationally. Ellen worked as the director of the US refugee program in Saudi Arabia after the first Gulf War and worked as an asylum officer in New York. She is a 4th generation San Franciscan.
