Eric Lun, an associate at STG Partners, is drawn to IIBA’s mission of welcoming and serving immigrants because of his own immigrant background. Eric’s father emigrated from Hong Kong and his mother from Malaysia. Eric joined IIBA’s Board to help defend and support immigrant rights. Eric hopes his financial background will be an asset to IIBA and wants to work to help more immigrants become citizens.
“In my tenure as a Board Member, I would like to foster and create a higher awareness of immigrant rights here in the Bay Area.”
Antoine Orard, MBA Candidate at Berkeley Haas, originally connected with IIBA through the UC Berkeley Board Fellow Program. Antoine understands what it means to be an immigrant. Originally from France, he has lived in multiple countries throughout his professional career. When he moved to the Bay Area, he wanted to get involved with an organization that aligned with his own values. Through the Board Fellow program, he felt connected to IIBA’s mission as he strongly believes in the value that immigrants bring to a country.
“I strongly believe in the value of immigration, and the diversity of thoughts, personalities and cultures that come from it.”
Christian Valdez joined IIBA’s Board with the desire to use his own experience with the immigration legal system to assist IIBA in further serving and protecting immigrants in the Bay Area. Christian, a DACA recipient, knows from personal experience how difficult it can be for immigrants to find trusted and affordable legal help. He is the Regional Program Coordinator at Building Skills Partnership. Christian is dedicated to advancing IIBA’s mission and helping IIBA meet the needs of immigrant communities in the Bay Area.
“There is a strong need for trusted partners and people who are really focused on helping immigrant communities, now more than ever.”
