Law Student Intern / Extern / Law Clerk
IIBA is interested in hosting law students during the academic year as part- or full-time interns or externs, and during the summer as full-time law clerks. Interns, externs, and law clerks will gain experience in humanitarian immigration law through work on individual legal cases and, depending on the needs of the office, outreach or other special projects. These are unpaid positions.
Immigration Legal Fellowship
The Immigration Institute of the Bay Area (IIBA) invites law students and recent law school graduates to apply for externally-funded legal fellowships. Fellows will be placed at one of IIBA’s seven offices, where they will support IIBA’s mission by providing immigration legal service, advice, and representation in support of low-income individuals.

IIBA opened our Napa office in 2013. Since then, 1,300 individuals have become citizens. In 2013, IIBA Napa was a staff of one. Today IIBA Napa is a staff of nine.
Since 2013, 6,350 legal consultations have been provided to immigrants and their families, 102,000 individuals have been educated on their rights, and 620 students have enrolled in citizenship classes.
IIBA Napa Client: Jorge
For thirty years, Jorge has been a member of the Napa Community, working in the wine industry as a field worker and tractor driver. He and his wife of 30 years met at church in St. Helena, where Jorge sang in the choir. He and his wife raised their four children in Napa. On Friday, January 27th, 2017, Jorge was threatened that his entire life would be ripped away from him.

Civic Engagement Coordinator–Napa, RWC, SF Offices
The Civic Engagement Coordinator supports IIBA’s mission by conducting community education and outreach to immigrant communities with a focus on voter registration and education, and education on Census.

IIBA Napa staff provide immigration legal services, monthly citizenship workshops, and free citizenship classes in Napa County.
